Salvation Testimony of Ed Story

I accepted the Lord as a young child in a children’s meeting at a small German Evangelical Church in Owosso, Michigan. I praise the Lord that he kept me faithful to Him as I attended this church through my teen years. The church later became part of the Evangelical United Brethren Church which then merged with the United Methodist Church. Since these churches were Armenian in doctrine, I found myself many times without assurance of my salvation. I can remember praying every night through high school and college, "Lord, if I’m not saved, please save me." It was not until I had finished college and had begun my teaching career in Lake Orion, Michigan, that I received the assurance of my salvation. I was attending First Baptist Church there, and the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart as I listened to sermons on eternal security. I don’t remember the date, but I finally said, "From this day forward I believe the scripture when it says ‘No man can pluck me out of His hand.’"(John 10:28). Having been "baptized as an infant", I soon followed the Lord in believer’s baptism by immersion at First Baptist Church, Lake Orion Michigan.

It was in that church that I met Shirley, the love of my life. We began our walk together in the Lord on November 23, 1957. While we didn’t actually claim Joshua 24:15 as our life’s verse, we have followed the principle "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord" during our entire life together. The Lord has given both of us ministries in every church which we have attended and we praise Him for his faithfulness to us, our three daughters and their husbands, and our seven grandchildren.
